Winter Sunrise Glow from the Roan Highlands

The Roan Highlands are the longest stretch of open, grassy balds along the Appalachian Trail. They offer several miles of stunning, 360 degree views. I captured this photo on a chilly morning after a passing snow storm. Looking out into the distance, the Black Mountains (which are the highest ridge-line on the Eastern US) are highlighted by a purple haze!
